Timing Is Everything

My husband and I have different schedules and we favor different times of the day for personal enrichment like reading a good book or starting a creative project.

Hubs goes to bed early and is up 7 to 8 hours later, when it’s still early!  When the sun peaks over the mountains and scours the landscape to find someone to hug with its outstretched rays of light, it’s my husband who’s there with a smile on his face, a cup of tea in one hand, and a banana in the other.

For me, it’s all about late night. That’s when my eyes dart around the room looking for the week’s read of choice or my creativity kicks into high gear. The sound of crickets or a great horned owl perched on the eave of my house calling out into the night is my call-to-action.

Some nights, you stay up late and pour your old memories onto a new page in your life. It makes the page kind of soggy, but it’s good to pour yourself out, so you can fill yourself up with better things.

My husband and I may not share the timing of extracurricular activities in common, but we know the personal time we spend alone makes the time we spend together more meaningful. I think this is why we’ve stayed happily married all these years.

Hugs from the Heart,

sandra
